Agrivoltaics: Powering Fields for a Sustainable Future

About the Forum

The Israel Forum for Agrivoltiacs is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture, the PAI Fund, Yad Hanadiv, JCT, NZO, and GrowingIL, as part of a national strategic effort to advance the APV sector in Israel.

The Challenge

Global Pressure

Climate change and global population growth are intensifying the need to achieve food and energy security.

Land Constraints

Land is becoming a key challenge as food and energy demands grow.

Solar–Ag Trade-Off

PV ground-mounted solar projects, serve a threat on agricultural, farming, the environment, and local ecosystems.

The Dual Use Soilution

Agrivoltaics (APV) systems utilize a variety of configurations to facilitate the dual use of land for agricultural cultivation and photovoltaic energy production.

Lighting requirements, reaction to shade, and adaptation to different radiation levels.

Changes in temperature, humidity & evaporation

Adapting the crops according to photosynthetic pathways that hold the optimal potential.

Structural considerations for optimizing solar production: total panel area, installation angle in relation to the sun, height, panel type

The forum works to remove barriers and identify opportunities across 4 key areas:

Innovation & Implementation

Research & Application

Economic Incentives

Policy & Regulation
